When we first started watching Manifest recently, I came here to check the rating of the final series to make sure it was worth watching. 8.8 seemed a strong enough score and I'm glad we persevered.
This episode was a great way to wrap up the storyline and gave us some beautiful (very cliche) moments. Just like the series in general, there were some obvious plot holes or skimming over details. I also felt that the way they convinced the Grim Reaper style shadow on the plane to let them go was almost too basic.
It became comical to me that the Stones always seemed to have exactly what they needed to solve problems - for example the photographs to decipher the wording carved into the rock and just happening to pack tents in case they couldn't get the ark piece.
As soon as we knew we were waiting for an ark to arise I predicted the ending. The plane had to be the ark and was bound to take them back to where it all began as there was never going to be any salvation for them in the new world they had created. Even though I predicted it, I still felt emotional watching them reunite with loved ones who had passed. The empathetic side of me couldn't help but consider what this must be like. I was even on team Zeke in the end... so this tied up great.
I had a few questions. Were Daley and Fiona included in the 11 missing passengers? What happens to the Callings - are all those incidents still going to happen now that we've gone back in time? Or did they only happen as a direct result of the plane?
Overall, I think this was the best way they could have ended it and (allowing a little leeway for some of the amateur elements) it was an enjoyable series.
