Here's an Andre De La Varre travelogue of western Continental Europe, a trip that begins near Omaha Beach in Normandy and ends with the return to the United States and the Statue of Liberty, with stops in Paris, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.
I've seen about a dozen of De La Varre's travelogues. Mostly they are in black & white, but this one is in Technicolor. De La Varre began in the travelogue business with Burton Holmes, a pioneer in the form. He began to produce and direct his own pieces in 1933, and over the next 38 years, he turned out more than 120 of them, concentrating on the architecture and crowds of his subjects around the world. He died in 1987 at the age of 83.
