Where's Everett (1966)
Poorly conceived and best forgotten
I discovered this pilot at The Paley Center for Media Library in New York City and was attracted to it by seeing Alan Alda's name in the cast. Unfortunately it is very bad as the cast hold an invisible alien baby and we hear the crying sound of a baby to let us know it is there. In the pilot they debate whether to tell their young visible daughter about the baby. Patricia Smith plays Alfa's wife and they live in the typical middle class house and neighborhood of 1960s television. Really idiotic and embarrassing to watch and we were all spared that this pilot did not evolve into a weekly series.
My World and Welcome to It: The War Between Men and Women (1969)
Did not age well
Was excited to find this episode at the Paley Center library as I recalled the show won Best Comedy Series at the Emmys; however all the women are depicted very badly making this episode quite offensive. The concept of dissolving into Thurber cartoons is cute and William Windom is charming in his role. There are probably better episodes to sample.
