Pure Taboo: A Score to Settle (2023)
Definitely unsanitary
Christina Shine created a website MIxedX with plenty of kinky content, and here she provides some of her largesse to another Adult Time label: Pure Taboo. It gives Euro star Kitana Lure a chance to shine, both in her dramatic (overdramatic as well) acting and amazing sexuality in service of a truly ridiculous story (by PT house writer Lapis Afterglow).
She's more than angry at her hubby Dean Van Damme having cheated on her with his secretary, but a bit of research involving his calendar and business trips he took inform her that the dalliance amounted to ten times. Her revenge is unique, and uniquely nonsensical: she confronts her hubby with the fact that she's just been gang-banged by 10 recruited studs who gave her 10 creampies, and with cum dripping on the floor from her, she demands that he humps her while the hot stuff is still inside her pussy, if he wants to earn her forgiveness.
That's a whole lot to swallow (pardon my mixed metaphors) for Pure Taboo fans, but they're used to sitting through preposterous stories. Brit porn vet (he's the one with the overall tattoos) Van Damme gets down and dirty, seeming to enjoy handling (and ingesting) all that fake cum before adding to Kitana's dubious internal stockpile. You have to admire the oddball kinkiness, and Kitana's performance makes up for the idiocy of it all.
Pure Taboo: Breeding Questions: A Natasha Nice Story (2023)
NN's knockers steal the show
Natasha Nice teamed up with Bree Mills to write this dumb scene, one of the sillier Pure Taboo gimmick segments.
She pretends to be a private investigator to pump Lucky Fate for information about his scandalous relationship as an art teacher having sex with his student Anna, causing her expulsion. He agrees to an interview, she keeps asking him intrusive sexual questions and then pumps him for cum and a creampie as part of her breeding fantasy.
With Nice's deep decolletage dominating the frame throughout, fans can certainly enjoy her uninhibited seuxality, but the Natasha/Bree screenplay is ridiculous. So as usual, sex aims for an A grade in the world of Pure Taboo, while the writing flunks out.
Can't Get Enough (1985)
Actually way too much
Apart from being a real 35mm porn movie, "Can't Get Enough" is a chore to watch, as it runs its slim premise into the ground. A story about a sexual elixir, akin to an aphrodisiac, it operates on the principle (signaled by the title) that sex workers in sweaty action with energy at as high a level as they can muster is enough to entertain. With eleven sex scenes grinding away pointlessly in concentrated fashion, it way overstays its welcome.
Shot in Manhattan, it stars Karen Summer narrating her story of becoming a sex slave among many others to Chelsea Blake, a not very attractive porn star, who at the outset signals her domination by squirting the elixir.
A large, quite famous cast of performers go to work in meaningless fashion, all driven by a sexual hunger that depends to some extent on the potent elixir. But their passion and exaggerated movements seem fake due to so much repetition.
Had the filmmakers, led by unknown director Louis Dana, told a real story and saved the sexual theatrics for one amazing dramatic climax, the film might have worked. As is, it is strictly for fans at the all-sex end of the spectrum.
One for the Road (1989)
A step backwards
Porn during the VHS era so often uses exactly the same actors and actresses over and over is wearying, so on paper it might seem a treat to see a very different cast. This thought is disproved by "One for the Road!", a hard-to-watch set of sex scenes with unappealing, no-name players (plus a few regulars).
There's no story, plenty of aimless improv dialog and ugly sets. I tried to discern some structure or point to the footage, but there is none. The non-actors can't spit out their dialogue properly -they're simply on the payroll to have mechanical sex. The stars are all slumming, ranging from Sasha Gabor, as the owner of a bar that doubles part of the week as a sex club, to Nikki Knight, who has sex on a pool table at said bar. Don Fernando pops up having sex on that pool table later, but with a totally obscure blonde, Sharon Swalow.
A room covered with graffiti is the setting for a couple of unknowns to have sex on a motorcycle, marketed as role-playing, and then another no-name couple borrowing the place to have sex away from their parents. This video is as crummy as possible.
Haunting Dreams (1993)
Dragging out the story
Another of those VHS 2-part releases, frustrating to watch since all the story's answers are reserved for Part Two.
The story is the hoary old tale of a motley group of folks gathered at a mansion for the reading of the will. Jon Dough gets the movie going poorly since he's miscast reading the will, lacking any gravitas needed for such a role. Everyone has to stay at the mansion for a full week in order to inherit, and the viewer has to suffer mightily through an overwritten script (by Gale Wynand) that has our porno performers reciting very artificial dialogue (completely unnatural) about dreams and other theories of the dead man (played in flashback by Dick Nasty).
Soon everyone's having erotic dreams, plenty of sex for us to watch. Cum shots are in slow motion, and nothing happens -no character development, clues or actual suspense. By betraying the "whodunit" suspense genre, the movie is a bust. And of course, casting Rebecca Wild as the dead man's lover gives voyeurs a really big bust to stare at.
Moonglow (1989)
Dreary attempted rom-com
Acting talent Sharon Mitchell and Billy Dee teamed up to co-direct this misjudged spoof of the hit "Moonstruck", so amateurish I started to feel queasy after a while. One would think seasoned pros knew better.
The cast plays Italian-American roles, strictly cliched, and the poor script by Chad Randolph attempts to be cute and funny but fails. Don Fernando is in love with Sharon Mitchell -they have a spaghetti dinner (as boring as could be) and then he gives her an engagement ring and fu*ks her. His brother with mangled hand "James Dean" shows up and mesmerizes her.
Throw in some sex filler scenes, like two gals having foot-fetish sex in a sauna, and you have a ridiculous movie. Worst acting is by Jesse Eastern as "Uncle Vito", worth showing to any acting class as a prime example of what not to do.
After suffering through the movie I wasn't prepared for the final scene, truly moronic.
The Coming of Christy (1990)
Lousy CC vehicle
Christy Canyon graduated to making her one movies, but this one written and directed by Tina Marie is a stinker. Both ladies come up zero.
Tina's awful dialogue and script plays to buttering up the boss, basically a tale of liberation as Christy breaks away from her neglectful producer husband Mike Horner to build an acting career for herself. This stress on independence is more corny than feminist, and clearly is a personal message by Christy (and Tina) that falls flat.
The lighting, sets and staging is that of a TV sitcom, and the situations are all cliche. Horner likes to hump his busty secretary Renee Foxxe and has trouble with talent, while the usual porn studs Peter North and T. T. Boy are on hand to service the ladies, replete with slow-motion cum shots. The whole movie is phony, right down to CC's "triumphant" finish (divorcing Horner).
Ski Bunnies 2 (1994)
All sex, no skiing
A dumb feature about sexual activity at a ski resort cheaply avoids any skiing at all, just the setting. An okay cast is wasted here, especially Dyanna Lauren who argues with everyone and then is relegated to a lengthy masturbation scene only.
Nikki Sinn is blamed for overbooking the place, but that only makes it easier to have hookups. And she pleases the fans with her specialty: anal sex including double penetration. Among the other players, Nicole London and Alicia Rio deliver the goods.
Stuart Canterbury is ultra-lazy this time out, wasting an opportunity to make a real movie, and settling for sex filler instead.
Midnight Confessions (1992)
Crappy video
Internet romance scams are a big news story today, amounting to a billion dollar industry fleecing lonely folk, but here's a cutrate VHS porn feature on the subject prior to the internet revolution. Cash Markman's typically worthless screenplay has T. T. Boy as the scumbag fleecing his customers with the old bait & switch, hiring beauties to front for his escort/dating service while delivering less desirable possible mates.
This is an "Introducing" vehicle for newcomer Mikala, who didn't catch on (after appearing in clunkers like this one. She resembles Tiffany Mynx, which I found confusing since the real Tiffany appears in a filler sex scene with T. T. Boy in the same movie.
Markman (billed spelled "Marcman") has T. T. Boy humping a prostitute, Alicia Rio, then has Mickala having sex with her roommate Lacy Rose and wraps up the show with two dates from the escort service (where you watch your future match via VHS first). Twist ending is boring. A total waste of time, reissued on DVD for another fast buck. Story is about scamming, but "Midnight Confessions" is the real scam.
Love to Mother (1984)
Inane incest movie
Shot on film for VHS release, "Love to Mother" is an extremely poor incest feature, pandering to fans who back in the day got to watch stories about incest rather than the current "Stepmom" stuff. Pointless script and stag-movie level direction sink this one.
Tantala Ray has an evil look more suited to the dominatrix roles she specializes in, but there's no hint of wholesomeness here. She was a child bride, hubby's dead, and now she gets off masturbating and dating again. She seduces her adult son Blake Palmer with ease, and it's interesting that after they make love, the directors present an obsessive lust with a couple days' worth of incestuous humping depicted and Blake delivering two different money shots.
More as sex padding than storytelling, freewheeling Tantala follows up with a gang-bang and a threesome, both featuring Blake and showing he's willing to share his mama with others as long as his needs aren't neglected. An amoral lesson for us all.
Loving You Always (1995)
Stupid romance
Fred Lincoln and Patti Rhodes travel to the Dry Gulch Ranch to make this limp romantic feature, starring Lisa Ann as a wife determined to divorce her no-good husband Vince Vouyer. The cast seems terminally bored in this paean to outdoor sex, and so was I.
There are no interior scenes, only some yapping outside and plenty of sex in the great outdoors. Silliest scene takes place next to an Indian tepee, where philandering Vince has a spat with his beautiful girlfriend Barbara Doll, latter wasted here in a nothing role.
Star Lisa Ann is unconvincing in her determination to split from Vince, yet of course reconciing with him on cue to provide a crucial night sex scene by a campfire. A notary she's brought along to witness the signing of divorce papers is played by Nick East, who ends up being seduced by (and running off with) their host Marc Wallice's girlfriend Nicole Lace.
Much ado about nothing.
Passionate (2024)
Another interview
Adult Time is on an interview kick -this VOD provides a YouTube talk session from Holly Randall, giving the microphone to sex therapist to the sex workers Leya Tanit. It's an interesting, wide-ranging discussion.
The main event of course is the VOD's XXX content, consisting of a vignette taken from Girlfriends Films' popular "Twisted Passions" series. In Volume 32, dedicated to mature femmes, it's a hot encounter between Serene Siren and Eva Long.
Eva's packing her suitcases and moving out, ending the ladies two-year relationship. As far as "plot" is concerned, it's about summed up in Eva's declaration: "You know I need to f*ck a guy once in a while". Serene is a Gold Star lesbian and feels hurt by Eva's recent infidelity, with a man of all people? They discuss the situation and Eva's description of her male encounter ends up turning Serene on. Lesbian passion takes over for the rest of the scene.
Not exactly music to the ears of Girlfriends fans, but soon after Eva makes up with her love, and they have Sapphic sex again.
Women Loving Girls (2020)
Quality Older/Younger action
These four vignettes represent high-quality Older/Younger girl/girl scenes, selected from earlier Sweetheart DVD releases.
Brandi Love provides a super-sexy massage to young Lyra Law in a scene from "Lesbian Massage 4", a 2019 DVD.
Same year saw two more vignettes: Elexis Monroe and Gianna Dior are seen slipping away from a party to have sex in the bedroom -no dialog or characters provided, in "Girls Kissing Girls 24". And from "Lesbian Babysitters 16", Danni Rivers turns down the babysitter job but returns later for a happy ending with Silvia Saige.
Dana Vespoli directed "Lesbian Hitchhiker 7", released way back in 2013, with Ash Hollywood as a beautiful young criminal on the lam, who has sex inside a car (an interesting staging photographed strictly inside a cramped space) with friendly social worker Nina Hartley.
The Art of the Short Story (2024)
An intellectual approach
A seemingly ordinary student/teacher meeting outside of class turns into not only an arousing Sapphic sex scene, but a philosophical discussion of some depth.
Charlie Forde is perfect as the professor who takes the opportunity to dominate her adoring student Dharma Jones after they have a healthy to and fro discussing no less than the meaning of life. The classroom instigation of their conversation is a film built around Chekhov's Gun, and the difference between real-life incidents and the artistry of fiction, where every detail can have a purpose in bilding a story. I had only encountered this topic in terms of Hitchcock's principles of suspense, so the attribution to playwright Chekhov was useful (who says porn can't be educational?).
Both actresses are exceedingly skillful in moving back and forth between making points verbally and then amplifying them sexually, in a basically dom/sub relationship. Having sex in the confines of a tiny office can be awkward (and phony "for the camera") in Adult Cinema, but here even an acrobatic 69 position is quite original. One nice casting touch is having Dharma Jones as the intellectually curious student: google her name dharma and you'll see what I mean.
Kudos to writer Maddy Burton for a screenplay she can sign with pride.
Tempting Proposition (2024)
Lesbian drama plus an interview
Adult Time has packaged a lengthy Holly Randall "Unfiltered" interview featuring actress Alexis Tae with an erotic lesbian drama from the porn platform's MixedX Hungarian website for this VOD, marketed under the Girlsway label.
Tae's interview from 2022 is informative about her personal life and her career, covering an assortment of topics ranging from her health regime, introduction to lesbian performing and other topics. Its format is that of a videotaped version of a podcast.
"Legal Temptations" is the 40-minute drama shot in Budapest by actress turned writer-director Christina Shine, and photographed by her production partner Zsolt Abraham, who frequently also works for Gamma Entertainment and Girlsway.
It's not very convincing as a drama but highly charged sexually, with plenty of foot-fetish action (part of the MixedX girl/girl mandate). Brill at 23 is young to be cast as the powerful lawyer, hired by evil Misha Cross to become a member of Misha's menage alongside lovely Alyssa Bounty, and the destruction of Brill's lesbian marriage would have been more interesting had her wife been part of the cast rather than just a character we never see. But filmmaker Shine does a good job of creating a dark atmosphere for their 3-way action. This scene debuted in January 2024 via MixedX on the Adult Time platform.
Lesbian Hitchhiker 7 (2013)
Natural performances
Dana Vespoli presents Adult superstars giving very natural performances in this romantic drama with just a cas of four. Instead of sex vignettes, she manages to maintain the sexual content predominating, but to let the characters come alive in a continuous short story of their brief encounter together.
Allie Haze and Ash Hollywood are the couple on the run -they were involved in a car theft ring run by female friends of theirs, but were wanted by the police when it got raided.
Their car broke down as they fled, and as luck would have it found refuge with kindly social worker Nina Hartley. However, Nina is married to a cop, played by the great Deauxma, who is a cop. Uh-oh!
Fear not, Dana is not emphasizing the crime story but rather the seductive talents of this foursome, and despite the casting, Deauxma is a warm and fuzzy type of cop, as much of a do-gooder (thank goodness) as Nina. What surprised me is how such icons in Adult Cinema, who we've seen having sex hundreds and hundreds of times, can bring a freshness to a scene if free from the restraints of "working for the camera". Dana even includes an unusual segment of Nina making love to Ash in the cramped confines of her car, very well directed.
Dad's Downstairs (2024)
Delightful seduction
A very cute, seductive vignette, "Dad's Downstairs" finds irresistible MILF Laura Bentley playing for sympathy as she feigns an ankle injury to draw her tall and lanky stepson Parker Ambrose into satisfying her in bed. The setting is the familiar "Immoral Proposal" mansion, their home.
To heighten the fun, Laura introduces a bit of danger, pretending that his father has returned and is downstaris, so they better keep their lovemaking quiet. But it's hot and heavy nonetheless, as she spurs Parker on to the climax, an extremely realistic looking creampie with her on top.
The cute ending contributes to the high quality of this love scene, taking a familiar situation and breathing new eroticism into it.
Women Loving Girls Vol. 2 (2024)
Old wine, in a new bottle
Some well-done (and also lesser) May/December scenes are back from the vaults in a Sweetheart compilation series that causes some confusion, in that Digital Sin used the same series title several years ago.
All the material previously was released in the "Lesbian Adventures: Older Women, Younger Girls" series. From Volume 12, Julia Ann is running a dog rescue center (no dogs shown in this tight-budget production) and reprimanding volunteer Britney Light, then humping her.
In Volume 10, Yhivi, far more attractive with long hair after her earlier career with bangs, is wonderful snuggling up to sympathetic Alexis Fawx, still a blonde at this phase in her Adult saga.
The other two vignettes are from more recent DVDs directed by Mike Quasar, both below par.
Asian Beauties (2023)
Going interracial, again
These Dark X vault items pair some talented actresses of Asian heritage with BBCs. Unfortunately, it's all oldies -scenes I've seen before.
I fixed a typo: it's John Long here, not "Long John". He's featured in a segment from James Avalon's 2018 DVD "Black and Asian", shot in the Dolby Logo doors mansion, looking mighty uncomfortable during the brief dialog exchange with cutie Cindy Starfall. He's arrived to have her sign some insurance papers, but all Cindy is interested in is sex.
Yhivi, looking fine with her longer hair than in her early videos, has no trouble dealing with Lexington Steele's vaunted member lodged in her posterior in a scene from "Interracial Anal Vol. 2", a 2016 DVD.
Also on tap is Sharon Lee opposite Jason Brown in 2019's "Black and Asian Vol. 2", plus Marica Hase in "International Interracial" (2017). The Japanese cutie Hase turns a routine physical therapy session into Oiler format XXX seduction of one amusingly named Jack Blaque.
Good 'n' Plenty (1987)
Very big naturals
Ron Jeremy is responsible for this big-tit fetish video, made in amateurish fashion.
Ebony Ayes, who doesn't get deserved top billing, is watching porn on TV when she wishes the stud on screen (Frank James) would service her. Her foot (in high-heeled shoe, of course) bumps into an antique artifact she bought, and it turns out to be a magic lamp (see: Aladdin), so clumsily without SPFX James plops into her living room by magic.
While she's sleeping, Frank leaves, stealing the lamp and phones his pal Billy Dee to tell him of the lamp. Several sex scenes follow, very stupidly connected via the lamp gimmick, and huge-breasted babes with floppy tits get hammered. Patty Plenty gets star billing and shows up in a jacuzzi for sex with her roommate "Median" (aka Nikki King). Ron selfishly writes himself into the movie having sex with his wife Nikki Good, and later pops up as not a pool cleaner -that would be too corny, no, he's Patty's jacuzzi cleaner.
Whether this stinker could cause brain damage (I hope not, having watched it myself), it does reflect brain damage, with not only Ron but the famous team of Mark Curtis and Tina Marie all credited with writing the screenplay.
Four Star Playhouse: Shadowed (1953)
Man on the spot
Dick Powell gives a subtle performance in a rather dry drama set in the realm of politics. I admired his acting, but never got interested in the story.
Perhaps what's lacking here is a hook. Right from the beginning, we're aware of something coming out of the past to haunt Powell, and he'll have a big decision to make.
The particulars are he's on he verge of being selected by the bigwigs to run for the U. S. Senate, and with their backing he's likely to win, with perhaps even the presidency looming in reach. But a woman he used to know has a death-bed request to see him once more before she dies. Has Dick grown too big for his britches to honor her wish?
With Frances Dee briefly diverting in the role of his strong-willed wife from a political dynasty herself, Powell has got to decide whether to do the right thing, or strictly do the politically expedient thing just to get ahead. I didn't have any trouble at all predicting which way he'd turn.
This is arid material, as even without being cynic we all know how crass politics have become. The question of being honorable or a profile in courage seems like it belongs to the distant past, making Powell's big decision seem quaint. We've seen too many Lindsey Graham types (actual senators) choose the Dark Side lately.
Climax!: The Volcano Seat (1958)
Tense flight thriller
Staging the acting scenes live (with filmed material for airplanes and outdoor footage) adds to the impact of the drama in this "based on a true story" episode of TV's "Climax!" series.
Michael Rennie is perfectly cast as a stiff, no-nonsense (and hard to like) Brisith officer from the RAF sent for training with an American crew on flying an airborne refueling tanking. Emphasis is on the dangerous fuel they're carrying, highly flammable, and the story stresses friction between the Brit and the Yanks.
Adding human interest is Patricia Cutts (RIP, another of so many show biz suicides) as Rennie's wife, as supportive and friendly as all-get-out. The screenplay cleverly manages to include her input to the way the frightening mission turns out, a touch I really appreciated.
Pussycat Galore (1984)
Inventive porn film
Director Henri Pachard and his screenwriter Rick Marx fashioned a light and funny porn film (shot on film & shown theatrically) that plays like a real movie but with explicit sex. It's Old School -10 short sex scenes instead of today's format of half-hour-plus barely edited XXX content per scene.
Set in Manhattan in winter, it follows ordinary people, focusing on young women who respond to radio ads and apply to work at the title escort service run by Joey Silvera and Honey Wilder. Amusing incidents and fetishes add to the sexy fun.
Some of the highlights include beautiful blonde Danielle servicing a submissive congressman (George Payne) while Honey supervises; and an unusual scene of role-playing when customer Carol Cross (butch-styled) meets escort Cassandra Leigh (styled with mustache as effete boy) in a dive bar (rather than in a gay bar or lesbian bar) and they have sex in the men's room. Several threesomes deliver the sexual goods.
A nice touch is having the actors and their character names matched visually and in voice-over at the end. The escort service is actually named "Pussy Galore", as evidenced in a dozen verbal references to it, but apparently the name was changed to avoid litigation per infringing on the Ian Fleming character from "Goldfinger".
It's surprisingly not as dated after 40 years as one would expect, and demonstrates the difference between story-driven sex movies and the current product.
Dr. Truth's Great Sex (1986)
Sex therapist, heal thyself!
Kim Carson is cute as Catherine, a/k/a Dr. Truth, who hosts a TV show helping viewers with their sexual hangups. It's XXX rated but she claims at one point that it's a network show with millions of viewers.
So that permits her to talk to the camera and essentially host separate sex vignettes like a loop-carrier, performing herself in some of them.
Highlights include Keisha in a couple of roles opposite Don Fernando, first as dominatrix with him as willing sub, and later in an unfunny satire of pick-up lines when they are both in a restaurant, leading to sex right at their table.
Kim gets to have sex with patient Sandy Summers, and she listens to Sheena Horne's "shame" at having a three-way at her boyfriend Frnak James's behest, with sexy blonde Sherry Evans.
Typical porn filler, suffering from the lack of genuine humor that it tries to deliver.
Baccarat (1992)
How dull can you get?
I sat patiently through this stinker by Stuart Canterbury (no one else to blame, as we wrote, directed and edited), waiting for something interesting to happen, and when the ""To be continued..." card showed up at the end, nothing occurred. Just sex and one of the dullest gambling events ever shown.
At the outset, after humping his girlfriend Stacy Nichols by the pool, Jerry Butler explains that he likes the pure gambling aspect of the game of baccarat -it's all luck. He takes Stacy to a private game, run by Don Fernando (the big boss), Steve Drake and as their dealer Melanie Moore.
We never get a shot of the cards, just Melanie announcing them and the house always seems to win. Kim Wilde plays a big loser, who borrows plenty of money and bets it wildly. Both T. T. Boy and Butler leave early, ahead. And there's two scenes of sex on the baccarat table (substituting for porn's old standby, sex on a pool table).
Video ends with Butler back home staring from his balcony at the night sky. Canterbury seems to have sucked all the life out of his script, deciding that watching five dull sex scenes is all he owes his audience. Part 2 adds Debi Diamond to the cast, obviously a plus, but nothing could save this uninspired project.
